What are the dates for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally for 2015?
The official dates of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally for 2015 are August 3th through the 9th. Although the “official” dates of the rally always fall on the first full-week of August, many riders come the week or weekend before the official Monday start to avoid the crowds and have ample travel time to get back home be the end of the week.
What are the dates the Broken Spoke Campground is going to be open in 2015?
The Broken Spoke Campground will be open from noon on July 26th through August 9th.
How far are you away from the town of Sturgis?
The Broken Spoke Campground is located at the northeast base of Bear Butte State Park, on highway 79, approximately 11 miles from the city of Sturgis. For a map and more information, visit our location page.
Do you have daily or weekly rates?
No, we do not have daily or weekly rates. Due to the large volume of campers, the Broken Spoke Campground offers a flat (economical) thirteen-day rate good from July 29th through August 11th no matter how long, or how short you stay in between those dates.
Can I have guests?
Yes. Guests to the Broken Spoke Campground will be allowed into the Saloon, Pool and other public areas. However, they will not be allowed into the camping areas without a wrist band.
Can I reserve a specific RV site?
Requests can be given to reserve a specific RV site, but not guaranteed.
Can I reserve a specific camping site?
No. The general camping area at the Broken Spoke Campground is open acreage meaning general camping “sites” are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Campers simply go find a spot they like in our open acreage and set up there.
What can I put on my RV site?
The RV sites at the Broken Spoke Campground are large pull-through sites. Campers may put anything inside their site such as motorcycles, trailers, tents etc., as long as you do not extend past your allotted space.
How large are your RV sites?
We have a various sized RV sites and you will placed according to your needs.
Can I set up a tent on my RV site?
Yes, at no additional charge.
What can I put on my camping site?
As mentioned earlier, the general camping area at the Broken Spoke Campground is open acreage. There is plenty of room for your motorcycles, vehicles, tents and trailers.
Can I have a campfire or bonfire?
Meade County has passed an “open burning” ordinance, which prohibits campers to have campfires or bonfires at the Broken Spoke Campground.
However, the campground will allow gas grills & gas fire rings.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes, pets are allowed at the Broken Spoke Campground. Please be mindful of your neighbors and keep all areas free from doggie droppings.
We suggest you bring a current rabies and vaccination records with your pet.
Can I bring my children?
Minors (under 18) are not permitted.
Can I use the pool if I don’t camp? Is there a cost?
On most days, there is no charge so bring your friends. Enjoy the music, our excellent food being served at the Broken Spoke Test Kitchen and our bikini-clad poolside waitresses.
What are the pool & tiki bar hours?
9am – Midnight. Pool closes earlier, when the lifeguards are off-duty, but the tiki bar stays open until Midnight. Subject to change due to weather or management decision.
Do you have laundry facilities?
We have two different laundry facilities. Machines are coin-op and open 24 hours.
I planning to bring my laptop – do you have WiFi?
The best service for Wi-Fi is at the General Store.
I’m camping but will need to charge my phone – where can I do that?
There are several outlets and power strips at any of the bathhouses and at the general store.
What do you sell at the General Store?
Although we would love to have a Super Wal-mart, it is just not possible. But our General Store carries those most needed items.
We have many brands of cigarettes and we carry beer, soda, water, energy drinks and juices. We have milk and creamer for your coffee, bread, snacks and some camping gear. We also sell coffee in the morning. Come on down!
Does the Spoke have a shuttle that goes downtown?
We sure do. The Spoke to Spoke shuttle will delivery you to The Broken Spoke Saloon on Lazelle Street in downtown Sturgis.
It goes and comes every two hours and is free!
What kind of food options do you have at the campground?
We have many different food vendors with a great variety of food.
Can I have alcohol at my camp?
Yes. You are welcome to bring and drink alcohol at your campgsite however, you will not be allowed to carry your own alcohol out of the camping area into the public vending area, concert area or saloon.
Are there any quiet areas to camp?
There are no established “quiet zones” to pitch your tents but we have over 600 acres of land to camp so there is plenty of space to find more privacy if that is what you like.
Can I run a generator?
Yes. We will however ask you to group with others that are also running generators.
Does the campground have private showers? Is there enough hot water for everyone?
Not only does the campground have private showers with plenty of hot water but they are famous for being kept clean.
What is the weather like during the rally?
The summer weather varies a lot in South Dakota. It can be cool or hot at night depending on the year. Make sure to go on line and check the area weather so you’re prepared with the proper clothing. Also, come prepared for the occasional passing thunderstorm and some potentially strong wind gusts.
Can I bring a golf cart? What about a four-wheel vehicle?
Absolutely. We also have a dirt track for four wheel vehicles or dirt bikes!
How wild of a place are you – is there nudity allowed?
We do our best to adhere to the laws of the county. We want to be there next year to continue to offer you the best campground in Sturgis.
For that reason, nudity is not allowed or any open sexual acts. That said, we still get pretty wild… |
